Silly question but... (HoM and GW2)
With all this talk about the HoM, I think it's important to revisit this and ask what was it really supposed be for in GW2 anyways? Were we really going to be allowed to tranfer armors over, or was the armor section going to end up being for a "Armored Ancestor" title? As it stands, even if we could transfer armor over (1.5K or a common set in gw2???) it seems like for say droks, there's only going to be one option as how is GW2 supposed to know if it was flameforged or iceforged?
What about the heros, is that going to end up being for "Ancestor had Friends" title or maybe let us start out with one hero for evrey class in GW2?
How are titles going to have a bearing on GW2? "Titled Ancestor" title track and no title in GW2 unless you've maxxed 3-5 in GW1?
Just to be clear, what are everyone's expectations for the HoM in GW2?

To be honest, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. There are people who will run around from now until GW2 comes out speculating on what they'll get, i'm sure there will be people who are disappointed with what they get when GW2 does come out, no matter what it is, but at the end of the day is anyone going to quit the game because of it? It's a nice reward for the loyal GW1 players that all our work will not go to waste, and personally, I'm happy with that.

GW2 is so far off it's not worth it trying to see into the future.
What is known is how HoM works in GWEN. And that is a failsure. This is known now.

the statement was everything entered would *unlock* some unique item.
the only flat out statement was these items would not give an *ADVANTAGE* over a new player
so you will get unique nice little cosmetic goodies/pets/etc but they will not give you an advantage over the new/returning player base
when the placeholder hall is replaced with the final working version i will bother visiting it for more than reviewing the cinemas

No arguement there. It's obvious that what Anet was planning and what the community was expecting were on such different levels it isn't even funny. But logic states that this HoM is what Anet wanted it to be. Seeing the community response which has been more against it than for it means there's a major lack of honest communications going on. Because logically speaking Anet and the community have two very different ideas on what the current HoM should be, it seems likely but not definate that the GW2 HoM is going to be different in terms of expecations and plans.
It's also a little disturbing to me. The HoM was supposed to be the big feature of GWEN, so much so they named the expansion after it. And as you accurately stated, it is a failure. So why did anet work on this "failure"?
Sam, I think it would be an injustice not to talk about the GW2 HoM or whatever rewards it is going to be while we are talking about this one because they are linked.

politely i disagree on this.
it is entitled GW:EYE OF THE NORTH
not GW:HALL OF MONUMENTS
the video stated that the *eye* was a focal point which also had access to your individual HOM
note also that on my world map my own guild hall is marked as *guild hall* and i do not have to map to a location (the Isles) than run to a zone point to enter my own personal guild hall
with the HOM it is not on the map at all.
you have to zone to a main location than run to your hall from there
they could skip the HOM entirely and it would not affect my buying it at all.
at least for 2 of my accounts
i am/will buy it as i have seen enough of it to think it will be a lot of fun and isnt fun what you buy a game for anyway?

I have to agree with Loviatar that GW: Eye of the North was not named after the Hall of Monuments.
As the hall is for individual charactors so be it, works for me. As for it being a dismal failure, works for me just fine. I like that you have one hall per charactor. Can you imagine the armor trying to show off armor for all your charactors!!!!! YIKES!
Yes a bit different then expected but such is life.

The HoM seems to be the centerpiece of the Eye at least as far as I can tell for now. So I'm at least partly correct.

Actually i thought the hall of Monuments was a room off of the Eye of The North...
kinda like a broom cupboard... with tapestries... that do nothing...

Actually, i got to the hall with all four of my characters and not a single one of them had anything to put in there until my ranger got there with his black Moa...
Not a single thing!!! So whats the frigging point of it?
and if someone tells me to go grind, i will pop a cap in some ass!

The only thing I heard about the Hall in relation to GW2 is that titles will reward you with some "bonuses" when GW2 is released. Not ambiguous at all. If they have no real information on the subject, why even offer a comment?
Instead of speculating on this, spend your time maxing titles for the next two years.

You mean PvP titles, correct? Since those are the main ones it takes.

I'm sure it might look like the companions one with a pet and 25 heros in it.
Quick edit here, its kind of late and it never hit me that of course you wouldn't be able to show all the heros as big as they are in that monument, looking around it seems you can only display five at a time, which is what I have so I never really noticed that, that was the max.

Where does it say that? where are you getting your information? or have you been a week or two into the future and seen what the retail GW:EN hall of Monuments can hold and how? No? then stop speculating

HoM was meant to reward players of GW1. What actually does with its current functionality is reward high-level PvP players.

From what we saw, it would just need to show the generic for each set, so it would take no more space than if you had a single character with each set...
